Laser hair removal has provided an effective solution for millions of people looking to rid themselves of unwanted hair. The lasers use the naturally occurring melanin in the hair follicle as a target to selectively disable the hair follicle while leaving surrounding skin structures intact. However, lighter hair, such as blonde, gray, white, red, etc., has too little melanin to provide an effective target for the laser. When sprayed on the desired area, Meladines patented delivery system selectively deposits natural melanin directly into the hair follicle. The melanin is delivered via liposomes which are absorbed by the hair follicle. The result is temporary, melanin-rich follicles that hair removal lasers are able to target. As laser light passes through the epidermis, it is able to locate and disable the now-pigmented hair follicle-just as if the follicle had its own natural coloration.
